Fall And Spring Chinook
Fall Chinook can range anywhere from 15-50 lbs and are one of the largest, hardest fighting sport fish we have in the Pacific Northwest. All Fall Chinook trips take place on either the Columbia River, Tillamook Bay, or other small North Coast Fisheries depending on the timing of the season and fish runs. We fish out of a comfortable 25 foot Alumaweld Columbia boat in larger water through October before moving to our 19x66 Willie drift boat with heated seats. The drift boat trips take place on small coastal rivers. There is nothing like fighting these large powerful fish in small rivers with lighter gear. We utilize trolling methods in the saltwater and bays while hands on methods like back bouncing and bobber fishing with eggs work best for targeting these fish in rivers.
Spring Chinook trips all take place on the Columbia and Willamette river as well as Tillamook Bay. These are known as the best eating fish we have in the pacific northwest. They will not spawn until late summer early fall so they are sought out for their high level of fat and oil which offers the best table fare among salmon. Spring Chinook fishing can be more of a hunt but definitely worth every bit of the journey after you land one of these amazing fish.
